10-July-2005: Thumb Rock, above the Konwakiton Glacier and the Red Banks. There is a moat just below the edge which traverses left to right above the glacier - compare to
this pic. When the snow is firm this is a route one may take to avoid the Red Banks. However, on this afternoon the snow above the moat was getting pretty weak - I almost fell in. Anyway, the chutes through the Red Banks were filled with snow and the easiest one made for a fine glissade.
