4WD access road

4WD access road
This is one of the washouts on the 4WD road used to access the McAfee Peak route on the west side of the Independence Mountains. This photo doesn’t adequately illustrate the severity of the road damage – it is about 18 inches deep in some areas and wide enough to make it difficult to straddle with a Jeep. Photo taken 8/15/09.

The damage is now to the point that if you fail to properly straddle the damaged area near the top, you could get your vehicle "stuck" and require major assistance (if possible) to get out. I could just barely straddle it in my Tacoma. Park and walk.
