A Grizzly Samples the Wind (or Me)
|[ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]|
A grizzly pausing from its foraging near the Polebridge Ranger Station. Much of the time, its head was down as it dug busily for insects or burrowing rodents. The digging action allowed us to witness the movement of its powerful shoulders and gain an appreciation for the tremendous strength of this great animal.
Shot with a 200 mm focal length-- you don't want to get much closer than this with flat, open terrain between you and a grizzly bear (which also helps explain the focus and composition of this shot!).
