It could have been worse. Thanks to the installation of crash bars, there were only a few minor scratches.

Heavy is right. It's close to 500 lbs. Add myself and all the packed gear to that and you've got yourself one heavy ride. A DR 300 would have been much nicer on the back roads. There were many times I was wishing for a dirt bike. Thanks for the encouragement!

I don't own a car so when I go to the mountains it's on two wheels. I bet you have a lot of back roads in Hawaii

I've seen the result of those sliders and they work pretty well. Thankfully I have a good set of crash bars and they kept the damage here to a minimum. Only a few scratches on the bars and rearview mirror.
