A photo of Mount Meru's West Slope from just below the summit. Before Mount Meru was placed in a national park, there used to be two additional summit routes on the North and West Slopes, however, these are now illegal to use. Interestingly enough, "Lonely Planet: Trekking in East Africa, 2nd ed" has information on using these routes. I'd imagine the routes are just YDS class 1-2 through the rock field.
