	Hasn't voted	It wasn't steep ice. We just learnt a dozen methods to build safe points, standings, etc. The axes wouldn't have slided down too far. :-) This guy was our instructor.

- tying of the ice screws instead of driving them all the way in or using a shorter one?

- placing the screws in row instead of a good equalizing anchor?

- placing the screws set apart sideways instead of above each other?

If this way my belay on steep ice I would freak out, but maybe I am just overlooking something?

	Hasn't voted	Thanks for your comment and good questions ! I try to answer: - tying of the ice screws instead of driving them all the way in or using a shorter one? It's just an introduction how we use a long screw if don't have a shorter one. This guy use the screws tied because on the ice he just drill the screw into the surface and set the sling into the good position. No matter if the screw is too long. I don't use all my screws this way but I use some "pre-tied" ones if the ice is not too thick. - placing the screws in row instead of a good equalizing anchor? It was a demo how to drill the different length screws into the ice and how to use them for anchor. It was not a real standing because it was almost on the ground. - placing the screws set apart sideways instead of above each other? Perhaps he could screwed the further one a little bit higher. But these screws are not on a row even in vertically and horizontally.
