A view down Striding Edge

As this photo shows, the path strays away from the center of the ridge a couple of times. That's to avoid some more difficult and exposed sections. I think it's more fun to stay on the ridge all the way! 26 May 2012.

Thanks Bob. The scramble over this ridge is one of the most famous routes in the Lake District. I had saved it for the last day of my trip, and it was pure fun.

As the image title says, I'm looking down on the ridge, from the edge of Helvellyn's summit plateau. What might seem to be a noteworthy summit in the distance, is really just a local high point a bit lower down on the ridge. But it's scrambing directly over all these bumps instead of going around them that makes it so much fun!
