A view of Pt. 6853 on the left and Pk 7177 beyond to the right from the trailhead to the south on July 19, 2003. From the trailhead (el. 5,550 ft), the idea is to take the trail for about a mile then go cross-country to the ridge crest seen at upper left behind the trees. Take the ridge essentially all the way to Gypsy. The bushwhacking is inconsequential to get to the ridge.
