About halfway up Whitney Glacier
25-June-2006: About halfway up the Whitney Glacier, perhaps 12000', looking down. Between 11500 and 12000' seemed to be the steepest part of the route, maybe 40-45 degrees. There were several fairly decent sized crevasses to cross there as well, one of which is described by the rangers as the 'lower bergschrund' (just below the Shasta-Shastina saddle).
