I have a question. What does this word "abseiling" mean? It means that the climber
is descending, right???

Nice picture - I love all of your pictures!!!

It's a cool way to say rappel. It's german in origin.

Hey, thanks SLinehan! I was thinking "rappel."
Yes, now I need to study my German.

In the picture it looks as though the climber is being lowered off, not rappelling. Looks like fun in any case :)

There seems to be a dire breakdown in world
communications. Thank God for this computer
sitting in front of me!

I'll GOOGLE the word 'abseiling,' and see what turns up or down.

All resistance is futile. The only thing I'm
absolutely sure of is:
"What goes up, must come down" ... : )))))

Instead of googling, try picking up a copy of John Long's book How to Rock Climb .. you never know, you might just enjoy it ;)

Any sport (or hobby) that involves wearing
helmets, boots, gloves, elbow pads and knee
pads has to have an inherent danger involved.

A person would definitely have to know what
they were doing when abseiling from a waterfall. You could really hurt yourself out
there. : O

Of course, you could also be hurt by getting
run over by a beer truck.

Geez, how do I always get stuck in these
debates that seem to last forever and ever???

I'm a proponent of the "butterfly method."
It's where you float over rocks and waterfalls without ropes, and it's all done by mind control.

It would be a very BORING world (universe) if everybody had the exact SAME method of doing things.

Yes, but I think you picked up the "popularity vote" on this one, which is
very good. Have a nice climb, Ivona! : ))))
