Access to Dumbell's Summit

[ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Access to Dumbell\'s Summit
The final climb to Dumbell's summit. A and B mark natural places to surmount the lower cliff band (easy class 2-3). C is the easiest way through the upper cliff band - a rubble-filled, eroded chimney (easy class 3, but verrry dirty and loose); above the chimney, D, are easy class two ledges leading to the notch. E is a cleaner and more direct route to the notch, following a shallow fault up and to the left (exposed class 3+). F marks the notch - from here the route follows the far (N) side of the crest (class 2-3) to the summit, G. To reach Greenwood, scramble easily to a small notch, H, on the S ridge and then follow an exposed ledge system around the east side of Dumbell to a simple connecting ridge.
