One time I was hiking with a friend who told me to try chewing it. It makes mouths numb. So I did and sure enough it worked.

At the time I had book on plants used by local Indian tribes for medicine and food. Anyway, I looked up yarrow and found that they used yarrow to treat tooth aches.
