Overview

The purpose of this page is to group typical Alpine - from the Alps and from other mountains - wild flowers pictures.

Pian del Re flower site

Pian del Re is in Italy, in high Piemonte. This is the place where is springing Po one of the main European River.

During early summer, it's possible to see a lot of Alpin flowers here. If you come back from Monviso or mountains arround, just take time to have a look to flowers.
During hot days, you have mostly fog and humidity on the east side of the Alps, due to west winds predominance. These are good conditions for flowers.

This place is accessible by car during summer. A small road is going there, but it's not anymore free... The Pian del Re parking is the most commonly used when going to Monviso.

Ripa valley flower site

May be the wildest valley in the all Alps. This valley is close to Sestričre in Piemonte, Italy. Nature has mostly been preserved here, so you can see a lot of wild flowers.

Via Michelin map. Ripa valley is at the bottom of the map.

Innertkirchen flower site

The site is above the valley at 1200m. South exposition, on the right side of Aar valley.

Om, I am a botanist and I want to tell you "Thanks!!!". For me the mountains are a composition of rocks, clouds, animals, water, ice, air, wind, sun, snow and ... plants. Sometimes a man is there.

I think the alpine flowers are quite important, they tell us about what levels we are reaching, what kind of climate

Thank you Lolli...I like alpine flowers (and mountains) for aesthetical reasons. Beauty , just beauty. Romuald knows a lot more about plants than me.

Well, so do I, I am just pretending I have another reason, which is connected with mountaineering, too..

I just love looking at the photos - almost as wonderful as real life. The flowers are an integral part of why I am out there. Thanks for starting this album.
