The Terksey Ala TooSome years ago, while waiting for permits for the Central Tian Shan to be issued, we did an acclimatizational trek in the Terksey Ala Too. This is a westerly sub range of the Tian Shan, that rises in south-eastern Kazakhstan, then follows a south-westerly course and frames the southern shoreline of lake Issyk Köl in Kyrgyzstan.
The region we´ve been to, lies to the south of Karakol, the provincial capital of the Issyk Köl region. This region´s highest peak, and the highest mountain of the entire Terksey Ala Too is Pik Karakol (5284 meters).
The treks rough initiary:
Day1: Karakol to Djeti Oghüz.
Day2: Djeti Oghüz to the head of the Teleti Valley.
Day3: Over Teleti Passto the Karakol Valley.
Day4: Over Ala Köl Pass into Altun Arashan Valley.
Day5: From Altun Arashan back to Karakol.
As I have met with no single mountain I would have enough information and enough good pictures about to justfy a complete mountain page, making an album seems to be a good option. I´m also to lazy to write a Trip Report, but if anyone wants more info, feel free to drop me a line.
