The beautiful Purcells I just took a trip into the Purcell mountains of BC Canada. Not much info out there on this range. There is are no mountain pages for this range so I figured I would put an album together to share with you all. Hopefully if I can get up there a few more times to learn more I can submit a range page.
This area is incredible. Massive glaciers and peaks fill the sky line. There are plenty of climbs, scrambles and hikes to be had in the area. This area is not as popular as the Rockies to the east. I do know there are some scrambles/climbs to be had from Starbird Pass just beyond Monica Meadows. There is also access to more peaks through Jumbo pass to the South. McBeth ice fields and Mt McBeth to the west.
We didn't get a chance to explore as much as we wanted to because the weather was horrible every day but one(hence the foot of fresh snow). We wrote up a fun trip report (I would make the link live but for some reason it screws the whole album up)Take a look because Karen's photos are much better than mine as she is a photographer. http://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16692
Here are some images from the trip up into Monica Meadows located under Mt. Monica.
If someone can name some of the peaks in the distance that would be great! My map sucked.
