The beautiful Purcells

I just took a trip into the Purcell mountains of BC Canada. Not much info out there on this range. There is are no mountain pages for this range so I figured I would put an album together to share with you all. Hopefully if I can get up there a few more times to learn more I can submit a range page.

This area is incredible. Massive glaciers and peaks fill the sky line. There are plenty of climbs, scrambles and hikes to be had in the area. This area is not as popular as the Rockies to the east. I do know there are some scrambles/climbs to be had from Starbird Pass just beyond Monica Meadows. There is also access to more peaks through Jumbo pass to the South. McBeth ice fields and Mt McBeth to the west.

We didn't get a chance to explore as much as we wanted to because the weather was horrible every day but one(hence the foot of fresh snow). We wrote up a fun trip report (I would make the link live but for some reason it screws the whole album up)Take a look because Karen's photos are much better than mine as she is a photographer. http://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16692

Here are some images from the trip up into Monica Meadows located under Mt. Monica.
If someone can name some of the peaks in the distance that would be great! My map sucked.

Beautiful gallery. How far from the North Cascades is this place? Looks like an incredible area to explore!

Thanks! It is NE of the N Cascades and South of the Bugaboos. I would say it is 4-5 hrs to get in there. It took me 9-10 hrs for Portland. Karen lives near Vancouver and it took her 6-7 hrs. This place is awesome! Not many trails to get access. There are only 3 trails in the area we hiked (that I know of). Monica Meadows, McBeth ice-field, and Jumbo pass trails.
I really want to go back and climb/scramble some stuff in there. Makes the NCs look like pipsqueeks hehe. ;)

Thanks Dean! You should head up there some time. It would only be around 5-6 hrs (7 max) for you. Such an incredible area.
