Our first sandstone experienceIn September 2006 we went to the Czech Republic to climb sandstone in Krizovy Vrch and Adrspassko-Teplické Skaly (very close to Polish border).
We mostly climbed on limestone, dolomites and granites before and we had never met sandstone. :-) We heard it is a little bit different than other rock types but we didn't suspect that the difference is so big... :-)
Czech sandstone is very soft you cannot use any metal hardware such as camalots, friends, nuts, etc. You can use only slings. There are not too much anchors so these underbelayed routes are very scary first time... and second and third time as well. :-)
But it was a very great trip and we want to climb here again because it is beautiful and not so overcrowded. Images
