SCOTLAND, LAND OF THE BRAVE!!!

Lairig Ghru, Glen Geusachan and Bod an Deamhain (Devil's Point)

The one place in Britain where you are (almost) guaranteed a winter wonderland, Scotland is at its most beautiful when covered in snow. So to celebrate this please add your Scottish winter photos to this album.

Winter: A Dirge (1781)

The wintry west extends his blast,
And hail and rain does blaw;
Or the stormy north sends driving forth
The blinding sleet and snaw:
While, tumbling brown, the burn comes down,
And roars frae bank to brae;
And bird and beast in covert rest,
And pass the heartless day.

"The sweeping blast, the sky o'ercast,"
The joyless winter day
Let others fear, to me more dear
Than all the pride of May:
The tempest's howl, it soothes my soul,
My griefs it seems to join;
The leafless trees my fancy please,
Their fate resembles mine!

Thou Power Supreme, whose mighty scheme
These woes of mine fulfil,
Here firm I rest; they must be best,
Because they are Thy will!
Then all I want-O do Thou grant
This one request of mine!-
Since to enjoy Thou dost deny,
Assist me to resign.

Robert Burns
1759-1796

Thanks Jerry, Scotland is amaing this timer of year, I'm hoping to get up there for a week or so at the end of Feb, as in Wales we've had a really rubbish winter so far. So fingers crossed more photos to come!

All the best

Cheers Marc, we're just lucky to have so many wonderful photos of Scotland here, and as for Burns, he's something else isn't he?

I wonder where the Welsh stood in the days of William Wallace.

Given the quality of your submissions, Dan, sorry to have to say it but fellow SPers might be glad of the fact - hard reality, mate.

LOL, I think we'd all be speaking English by now whatever the outcome! Besides, I'm not a nationalist, and I'm not a fan of nationalist politics either - I like it when everyone just gets along.
Cheers
