Plant Life of Lake Mead Area

Lake Mead National Recreation Area is located in the states of Nevada and Arizona. It was established in 1964. It is a 1.5 million acres of wild and rugged beauty. The developed trails are very limited, thus the area offers plenty of solitude and excitement for more adventurous hikers and scramblers looking for remote peaks and canyons to explore. The are plenty of off-trail routes to the shores of Lake Mead, Lake Mohave, the Colorado River and hot springs as well.

This is also a great place for nature study as the three of the American desert ecosystems meet here.

They are: the Mojave, the Great Basin and the Sonoran Desert.

This album is dedicated to all plants that have adapted to survive in this beautiful yet extreme place where temperatures soar in summertime and where rain is a very rare event.
