Val Verzasca

Val Verzasca is famous of it's clear green waters and the centuries old Lavertezzo bridge. This valley is one of the most beautiful ones in the Kanton of Ticino, the Italian speaking part of Switzerland.
For hiking and climbing mountains this too is the place to be. There are great summits like Pizzo di Vogorno waiting to be climbed.
Although famous, it is not a crowded place, making it even more beautiful.
When done climbing you should cool down by swimming in the green, but very cold waters, of the Verzasca river, which carved beautiful structures in the surrounding rocks...
For those who haven't visited (yet!!), I created this album: enjoy!

Getting there...

Between the cities of Locarno and Bellinzona is one main road.
On this road you will pass a village named Tenero. From here you can follow the signs of 'Val verzasca', which will guide you into the verzasca-valley.
The cities of Locarno and Bellinzona are visible on every highway map and therefore eay to locate. But if you want a route, check: www.ticino-tourism.com

I spent a day up here a little over a year ago. It's a very nice place. I jumped off that famous bridge into that cold green water too!!
