October 6, 2007The Great Craggy Mountains are a high range a short drive northeast of Asheville, NC, along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Craggy Pinnacle has a maintained trail to its top that passes through a jungle of rhododendron which becomes purely spectacular when the plants bloom around early June. The views from the top are excellent and unobstructed, and they encompass a sweeping panorama of the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.
My afternoon hike up Craggy Pinnacle, following a hike of nearby Flat Rock, rewarded me with some interesting lighting after a long day of rain and fog. The outing didn't contain anything worthy of a big trip report, and this page is really about showing some of the nicer views I enjoyed while out there.
