The Lamar Valley is often called the "Serengeti of North America" for its abundant wildlife. It's easy to see bison, elk, and pronghorns. From winter into spring you can see wolves from the Druid Peak and Slough Creek packs. Coyotes, birds of prey, and many other animals feast directly or indirectly on the valley's richness.
Get off the Road!There's a road through the north side of the valley that's open all year. It's crawling with wildlife watchers. SPers should park at the Soda Creek trailhead and walk up the Lamar River Trail. I've collected some pictures to whet your appetite.
