Serra da Estrela National Park, PortugalSerra da Estrela National Park is located in eastern Portugal and litteraly means "Range of the Star"
It is the highest mountain range of Portugal (when the Azores Islands are excluded) with the highest point at just under 2000 meters: 1993 meters high is Torre-mountain. (6541 ft.)
The mountain range is situated between the villages of Seia and Covilha and is about 100 km long and 30 km wide.
The mountain range is formed by a large granite ridge that millions of years ago formed the southern frontier of Portugal.
