There's nowhere quite like Vancouver Island.

The alpine backbone of the island stretches almost 500 km from north to south and the sea is never too far away to both the east and west. The proximity of the ocean, heavy winter precipitation and the northerly latitude combine to produce relatively low levels at which both the alpine zone and permanent glaciation are found. Summit views offer unique and stunning panoramas encompassing mountain, glacier and ocean.

Enjoy this collection of panoramas from the north Island to the west coast and, of course, from the jewel in the Island's alpine crown, Strathcona Provincial Park.

See also the complementary album "Vancouver Island" which offers a collection of Island summits many of which were the location from which the following panoramas were shot.

Finally many thanks to gimpilator without whose helpful comments I wouldn't have thought of creating this nice little collection. Cheers Adam!

I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this awesome material in the future. Some of these shots are good enough that they make me want to come up there and explore the area for myself.
