Finally

I had been wanting to climb Pilot for several years and after an attempt in June that really never happened (bad weather), Ken Jones and I hooked up again for our second attempt. SP member Sacha (redsplashman23) joined us as he has a keen interest in Nevada Peaks after climbing a bunch of them in southern Nevada for the most part. He came from Ohio (where he now is working) although he'd rather be in Las Vegas where he has a home. We spent a couple days after Pilot doing three more Nevada peaks but the pics here are from our Pilot visit. Oh yes, as others have said, there isn't an easy route up Pilot but there is a lot of rubble to make your day interesting.

WasatchvoyageThis album brings...

memories from the trek up the mountain on Halloween last year. The approach road in/near Miners Canyon was brutal, ended up getting sidewall damage on the right rear tire of my vehicle, which blew out on the way home on I-80 near Grantsville. Also the only real fall I have had over the past year was on the way down from Pilot, did almost a full on backflip on a loose talus boulder, landing right on my pack. Fortunately nothing bad came of it! Glad to see you nabbed this one, a great rugged Ultra for sure!

After doing this one, this is not a peak I'd willingly do again nor would I want to do it solo. Doing a backflip as you did must have been one scary moment. Thanks for sharing your story.
