Amazing mountain!  Sucess!

What an awesome peak. This was my first trip to the Daks and I sure was impressed. Amazing views and a gorgeous August Day even though it was a bit chilly. Beautiful place!

Algonquin from the Loj  Sucess!

The hike that began my 46 quest (not counting Marcy long ago). One of the best views for a short roundtrip anywhere in the East. Yes, there was snow and ice in early November.

Mud  Sucess!

Had a good time. Started at 0555, got back down at 1105. Steep in some spots. Slippery and muddy, had to carry a stick. First one on the trail for the day. Lots of people going up when I was coming back down. Summit was in the clouds. When I left it looked like it was clearing up.

Best of the 46ers  Sucess!

Hiked this peak many times during my youth and was my favorite of all 46ers done. Spent several nights at Colden and what would a stay there be without bears ripping through feedbags.

Fine Spring Day  Sucess!

Excellent day. Icy enough the we needed crampons on the top sections. Very little postholing on the way down to Lake Colden. Great day had by all. J. D. and Andrea Miller and William Marler.

Algonquin in September  Sucess!

Camped Friday night just shy of McIntyre Falls, then hit Wright Peak, took some shots of the plane wreckage, then did a round-trip to the top of Algonquin. Excellent weather - not too hot, but not very cool either. Incredible views!

Had a great time on Algonquin. Lots of Ice above the treeline. Can be a strenuous hike so bring lots of water. Did it in crampons and waliking ice axe. Not that much snow this year

Route Climbed: Marcy Dam to Wright/Algonquin  Sucess!

Great day. Had camped out at Marcy Dam the night before in -5 degree weather. 35 degree 0 mph wind on summit day. 9 hour roundtrip from Marcy Dam to Wright/Algonquin/Avalanche Lake. Snowshoes and crampons necessary. Very steep and tiring but great views from the top. Trail down to Avalanche lake could have been a bobsled track. Good fun if you can glissade.

Extremely well marked and trail was very packed.

from Heart Lake - in and out  Sucess!

It was a very beautiful sunny day just a little bit cold (at least for me) about -10F. The hike was very good and this winter is very scarce on snow so no snow shoes were necessary and we just used crampons at the top part of the hike, just about at the tree line. Because it was very sunny the view was magnificent, petty I forgot my camera in the cabin.

Great hike with a impressive site of Marcy in the distance ...great time w/wine and cheese at the top.

The hike was great better than Whiteface and the Cascade. However after reaching the top I checked my pack for water and found my partners filled my pack with stones... what a crew.. good times

Route Climbed: LOJ to Summit Date Climbed: January 8th, 2005  Sucess!

A year ago, in 2004 I tried to summit but got stopped by a tremendously deteriorating weather and a night in -25F in a tent that was not too pleasant. This year I was determined to go all the way, and as usual it snowed and then a storm started brewing, but I had a big enough window to make my way to the top and down below the trees to get back down and move on to the next summit. This might be a little shorter than Marcy, but it is as much challenging.

Route Climbed: Lake Colden Date Climbed: October 9, 2005  Sucess!

My son (11) and I had a great 2 days backpacking trip from the Loj via Avalanche Lake to Lake Colden where we pitched our tent, and on the 2nd day we climbed Algonquin Peak with zero visibility and 50 mph wind with a 50 lbs pack. Still, we had a lot of fun doing it. Will go back for sure, probably in winter.

Route Climbed: The Loj Date Climbed: October 22nd, 2005  Sucess!

Made the trip down from Ontario to bag our first High Peak. Chose Algonquin because we only had time for a day trip. Started out a beautiful, clear fall day but cloudy and windy on the summit. Trail was wet and muddy to Whales Tail, then wet, and icy to summit. Saw a pine marten. 45 more to go...

Route Climbed: From lake Colden Date Climbed: October 2002  Sucess!

Another whiteout on an adirondack high peak in october. Icy conditions made the trail quite treacherous from lake colden. We camped at the leantos and came home from an evening walk to find a huge bear in our leanto. Fortunately all our food was on the hang line and, even though he tried, he couldn't get it down.

Route Climbed: Avalance lake Date Climbed: Octiber 13, 1996  Sucess!

Spent two cold days bagging the High Peaks. Hit Algonquain, Coldon and Gray, spent a brutally cold night in a lean-to then hit Skylight, Marcy and Phelps. We were past peak for the foliage thus making this a cold overcast and gloomy adventure.

Route Climbed: from Lake Colden Date Climbed: May 29, 2005  Sucess!

Nice short hike up from Lake Colden with Akshay Damarla. Went down the trail to the Adirondack Lodge. Trails were pretty rugged and muddy but the forest was extremely pretty and the view of the lakes and hills were worth the short hike.

This was peak #1 on my first triple peak-bagging day! Beautifully bleak, crowds not overwhelming for Labor Day Saturday. High peak #5.
