| Tahawus | Algonquin Peak ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 9, 2006 | |
| Climbed with Wright and Iroquois via the McIntyre Range Trail from the Adirondack Loj. A beautiful mountain indeed. Many expansive lawns of Deer's Hair Sedge and Bigelow's Sedge on Algonquin's grassy summit dome. The only drawback proved to be the crowds of people at the top. Found more solitude over on Iroquois. | ||

| CaLculAted Risk | Soaking Rain ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 20, 2008 | |
| Climbed Algonquin from the Loj in a full day rainstorm. The trail from Wright's junction looked like a river with waterfalls. Each step and hand placement had to be carefully thought out lest we be knocked back down the trail. Summit was cold with sideways frozen rain and no views (in a cloud). We had to shout to communicate with eachother and of course, the camera failed. It was a great challenge and a great experience. I hope to summit again someday in better weather. | ||

| goat14er | Intro to the East ![]() Date Climbed: May 25, 2008 | |
| Quite an adventure for my first peak east of the Mississippi. Great views and steep trail made it feel no different than out West. Strong winds and rain on top added to the excitement. | ||

| Spindle | Crazy weather ![]() Date Climbed: May 23, 2008 | |
| Weather alternated between sun and rain until we reached the treeline, then it was all wind and blowing mist. Completely socked in. The trail was still snow/ice covered above 3500' and very slippery. | ||

| StumblingBear | As Good As It Gets! ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 15, 1997 | |
| Was a great day for a hike/climb, about as perfect a day as could be asked for. We did the climb in one day from the ADK Loj, was enough for me! First trip in the Adirondacks. | ||

| JonW | First Time in Daks ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 21, 2002 | |
| We did this as part of a 3 day loop in the Daks after doing Marcy. I found the descent on the otherside pretty steep and it took a lot out of the legs...but maybe I was really out of shape back then. | ||

| Steger | Canadian Thanksgiving ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 7, 2007 | |
| With terrible pronunciation, we Bostonians greeted each French Canadian we passed with, "Joyeux action de grace!" We were rained on for most of the four days of this backpacking trip. | ||

| Koba | Awesome trek ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 7, 2007 | |
| Algonquin and Wright were my first High Peaks. Full overcast, decent snowfall and icy conditions above 3000' and just awesome. Definitely recommend stabilizers or crampons at this time of the year as I managed to bite it repeatedly above the treeline. | ||

| A marten calmly walked down the trail from behind us while we were taking a break. It's the only time I've ever seen one. | ||

| Climbed it on a cold, windy, icy day in the Dacks. Did it with my brother and we started from the Loj, climbing Wright Peak on the way back down. | ||

| Florida Frank | Beginning of a great backpack trip! ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 18, 1977 | |
| My first time up Algonquin. One of the most beautiful Adirondack high peaks. I've been up in winter conditions, and most recently, in September of 2004. | ||

| birdny | My Favorite ![]() Date Climbed: May 26, 1993 | |
| Climbed first on May 26 1993, cold, rainy near the summit, ice, no views. Came back to Heart Lake via Avalanch Pass where the skies cleared and sun came out. Was still a great hike. I've since climbed it over 7 times. It's short and relatively easy and hell it has awesome views! | ||

| MoapaPk | 12 times from 1970-1975 ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 20, 1970 | |
| 3 times in full blown winter, one other time in an October snowstorm and whiteout. Backpacked over the top once. One day in July 1971, went over Wright, Algonquin, to Iroquois. There was no trail to Iroquois back then, and the trip was over and through extremely tough balsam. | ||
