Alpenglow on Aiguille de Bionnassay | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Alpenglow on Aiguille de Bionnassay (4052m) from Aiguille du Gouter refuge (3817m). View from the refuge is amazing. When you see cumulus clouds and valleys so deep below it feels like being on top of the world. I had to take the pictures from the window because at this time of day is impossible to get out on terrace without stepping on the heads of people that are trying to get some sleep before 1.30am wake up and are lying all over the place, even on stairs. If you don't have a reservation for Gouter refuge it is much better to erect tent on the summit shoulder of Aiguille du Gouter which is just above the refuge. August 2002.

Hasn't voted | Thank You Nelson! It really is a privilege to experience the end of day on such place, pure feast for eyes and mind. Gouter refuge is special place, so high and so exposed. On the balcony you have a feeling that whole structure might crash down the western face of Aiguille du Gouter. | | Posted Nov 15, 2003 4:11 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Should be savored with a glass of Cointreau but then we would'n't want to follow to closely the habits of Whymper and his ill fated party! | | Posted Nov 15, 2003 10:21 am |

I mean - motifs that everybody shoots, and yet, suddenly someone comes and does it a whole class better. Congratulations, Sasa. I had very similar conditions up there, and still, did only a good shot. This one is perfect! | | Posted Nov 15, 2003 1:52 pm |

Voted 8/10 | I was sleeping in that hut in 1990 and was really uncomfortable. In 2001 we returned but placed our tents on the Aiguille de Gôuter, we finally could summit :-) | | Posted Nov 15, 2003 8:30 pm |

Hasn't voted | You are right om but I decided to put in on MB page because this view is so typical for Gouter route which is climbed by many people while AdB is much less frequently climbed. Sunset from Gouter refuge is second most beautiful thing one can experience on this route. First of course is standing on top of MB. I dare to say that AdB is almost a trademark of the route, certainly most striking peak along the way. | | Posted Dec 8, 2003 8:01 am |
