Alphabet Soup, 5.10c

[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Alphabet Soup, 5.10c
1st Pitch- 55m- 5.10c/ This was a great pitch by Yam standards in my opinion. Start out via some intermittent corners and cracks towards the right face of the tower. Keep climbing just left of the arĂȘte proper on some nice cracks and jugs. The climbing starts out and stays steep. Eventfully the holds become a little more sloped and technical. Use an under cling or two to move up and left and then back right into a small corner of sorts. The moves are mostly of the balancing type. Fixed pro (bolts 2010) protect any of the hard moves well with several small trad pieces filling in the rest of the pitch nicely. Once the ground eases, run over the ledge above to the wall in front for a fixed belay.

""You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.""   --Rene Daumal
