The brush to the west of the peak is quite difficult to travel through, but I had my mind set on descending via the gully off the southwest side of the peak and managed to make it through. If continuing up the ridge, it is beneficial to travel through the pines on the north slope rather than through the mahogany on the south slope.
Failed to reach the summit on May 29th, but came back and did it right one week later. It was pretty hot out there; 79 degrees F when I returned to the trailhead.
