Alpitreck

The philosophy of Alpitreck (Mauro Ferraris), is living the high mountains in the company of a faithful friend of man, "the Horse".
Hiking in the high mountains of the Valley of Susa, night camp between a transfer and more. The absolute respect for the horse, the preparation of men, the path perfectly studied, making possible the ascension of peaks over 3000 meters.
A perfect logistics studied long before the departure, will allow humans and animals to overcome all the difficulties

The path. Firts Step.

Meeting of the horsemen to base camp of the Vallée Etroite, set up the slopes of beautiful Mount Tabor.
Twelve Horses with their riders.
Tipi.

first stage: Vallèe Etroite-Mount Bramafam.
15 km route through the pine forests on the slopes of Mount Colomion, is the so-called stage of heating. In the image from left to right :" Vallèe Etroite-Hill of the Scale-Melezet-Colomion Pine Forest and (top right) Mount Bramafam.
Border town.

Overnight at the fortress of Bramafam above Bardonecchia and the day after the second stage: Mount Bramafam- Mount Pramand.

The Path. Second step.

The way of the Guns.

Rise early, we expect up to 25 km route for Mount Pramand.
From Bramafam descend into the valley of the river Dora immediately begins the steep ascent to Mount Jafferau.
Intersects at several points the old military road, at noon break at Foens for watering the horses and rest.
A clear sky of withe stripes.

The last section takes place on the street, dirt passing into the long, dark tunnels of the "Cave of the Saracens" (3.5 km), is an ordeal for the nervous system of horses.
Late afternoon we arrive at Pramand where awaits a welcome surprise .... Caesar, an elderly Partisan Valley that entertains us with his tales of the mountain and the war.
Beautiful!
In the evening the rain comes, put away all the horses and everyone go to sleep.
Mount Seguret.

The Path. Third step.

From the mount Pramand we go to Our Lady of Cotolivier (above Oulx). 22 km to go in a day. Descend from Pramand using the old military road, but at several points cut in the middle of beautiful pine forest, the so-called direct route. Once in the valley are the Dora Riparia (once rich in gold, hence its name: "Golden River"). From the verdant pastures of Oulx climb the mountains that lead us to the Madonna of Cotolivier. Our final goal (the morning-after) is already in constant sight; Mount Chaberton with its huge shadow hanging over us the whole way. Unfortunately the weather is deteriorating and the outlook for the next day are not encouraging.
The hill of Desertes.

Chaberton .. the final goal.

After last night at Madonna's Cotolivier, the next day we expect the most challenging step, especially for our faithful four-legged friends: Mount Chaberton. There are only twelve miles but the difference in level is above 1400 meters, also provides the weather was not any good.

Rocca del Lago.

Luckily the next day is clear, starting at dawn, passing through the lake of Desertes, below Rock Lake and the old military road to arrive at Rio Hell. So the long and steep bends that in less than two hours brings us to the top!
After two hours the weather turns for the worst, we must go down .... unfortunately.
The alpitreck 2011 was a fabulous journey in the company of wonderful animals.

But where are we?

Mauro Ferraris.

MAURO FERRARIS The MAN WHO WHISPERS HORSES ALL THE LOVE FOR THE MOUNTAINS.

"Nothing is more dangerous than an amateur without humility"

In the Alpitrek the competitive spirit has no place, nor the prominence of the ordinary tourism, Alpitrek is another thing, it's hard to explain, looks like a gesture, an act of attention, an attitude of good availability where is all due to a technique used but with the acquisition of it may become frequent with the horse sense of the epic and the ethical.

Ascent with Alpitrek to the highest Forteresse in Europe.

Chaberton: ancient Celtic word, "Shining Mountain".
High, isolated, magnificent for its daring attracts the wrath of the gods, that the lightning storm.
The men have opened the top and created a fortress in ancient times.
Eight towers resist,
blockhouses, barracks, bunkers and hundreds of meters of barbed wire protecting it again.
Every year in late June, the storm spins of iron splinters of grenades to throw on the ghosts of soldiers, Italian and French, embraced each other, playing dodge.
The road from the valley floor, as salt and grown over the centuries through mountain villages at the edge of the forest.
After the road becomes rough Hell Rio is rearing like a runaway colt.
It should hold your breath for rock cut and did not wake up through the Spirit of the wall, the one that throws stones
Pian of the Dead: clean water, pure water, water hidden
Chaberton Hill: on a clear day you can see Gondor.

Then the top
From which you can look straight in the eye of the Spirits!

Mauro Ferraris (Organizer of Alpitreck).
The man who whispers to horses all the love for the mountains.
