Altair > Standhope > The Fin > Recess  Sucess!

Broad Canyon approach. Ascended the south face, which recently had a massive landslide that covered part of the trail. Descended the southeast ridge.

Bike Hike Scramble  Sucess!

Started at the Fall Creek TH and went to Surprise Valley trail junction. Hiked from there to the saddle and then scrambled to the top. A fun day!

Hazy  Sucess!

A long 10 hour hike from the Fall Creek TH and the haze rolled in during the afternoon so the views were a little less than spectacular. Fun climb though, as with all the other Pioneer Mountain peaks.

Nice long climb.  Sucess!

As with all the Pioneers, the view from the top is something else! Plus you can see a lot of the nicest alpine lakes in central Idaho: Goat, Betty, Angel. All fantastic destinations.

good area  Sucess!

Not sure I would agree with the "classic" ridge walk described by Lopez but still good fun. Mainly class 2 with maybe a little class 3 that one could easily bypass. Very scenic area with some of the better alpine lakes I have come across in Idaho.

Long but great day!  Sucess!

Climbed Altair as the third peak of the day over 11800’. Started with Peak 11887’ from our camp at Baptie Lake, then Standhope, and finally a traverse to Altair. I was dreading this final climb a bit because the ridge looked very loose from a distance, but I was glad to find the rock was actually very stable. Hung out on the summit for quite a while, didn’t want the day to end. Here’s a write up and a bunch more photos of the trip.
