Amanita Muscaria var. Alba often grows near Birch trees. These fungi contain the two toxins ibotenic and muscimol. When ingested these toxins contain hallucinogenic properties but they can damage the liver and are potentially fatal. Photographed in Royal Basin, August 25, 2007.

Hasn't voted | Good question. Even though these mushrooms are poisonous, some people have been known to tempt fate and eat them anyway for their psychedelic effects.
