American Dipper

American Dipper

is commonly seen skimming over the surface of the river, then diving into the water for insects or small fish. It's about 7 inches long, and shaped like a wren. It's a year round resident in the entire canyon.

really? I guess I was not into bird watching back at home... just remember scaring birds away from our grapes (=wine) in the fall.
