Highlight of a loop with Baldy, Sugarloaf and Hidden. Met up with Mooner on the summit of Baldy and we went up the Northeast Ridge to the summit of American Forks Twin Peaks. He continued on the ridge, while I went down via Gad Valley back to the village and my car.

punchline

Climbed AF Twins via Snowbird resort - "Dick Bass Highway" to Gad Valley to Gad II and up ridge to Red Top and then over. Beautiful clear day - could see SLC valley as well as Timp and Nebo to the south.

Note: Road construction is currently happening on Gad Valley Road around the Mid-Gad Restaurant. They were pretty insistent that no one go up that part of the 4wd road due to the large backhoes, etc. that may be moving up and down the road. Possibly a better option, until work is completed, would be to go to the end of the "Dick Bass Highway" and bushwack up the basin in front of you veering to the right where you could pick up the Gad II trail and completely avoid the Gad Valley Road ... just a thought ...

East and West Twin and Red Top...knee surgery from 7 months prior has bothering me along with construction noises at the sky resort made for a rather lackluster day. Better than being at work though.

Awesome hike- parked at Snowbird center, up Gad Valley to Gad 2 to Red Top, to the Twins, then along the ridge back to HDP and down Peruvian Gulch. Beautiful weather, awesome hike. Would have continued to Baldy, but we went down to hit up Oktoberfest.

Parked at 7900' up the MIneral Basin road, where it got so rough, I didn't wanna take my truck any further. Did American Fork East, West and South, and Haystack. Descended the northeast face of American Fork East down into Mineral Basin. Was snow covered and my top speed was 25.6 mph according to my GPS. Was quite a rush. Total round trip was 9.96 miles and I completed it in 4 hours 3 mins.

Took the tram up and did part of the Bullion Divide ridge traverse and hikes down white pine. Turned out to be 10 miles. The climb over to red baldly was interesting.

Rode the tram up to Hidden Peak, went across the knife edge, then kept going after the twin peaks. Down via White Pine Lake, and back up to the lodge by hitchhiking.

Nice to do this one. A beautiful day but rain to the west made me go ahead and visit all three quickly and then go back down. Saw moose and deer, too.

I really enjoyed this hike. I made the hike quite easy by riding the tram to Hidden Peak, but I had a ton of fun on the ridge. I did this one by myself. I met SP member, climbingchic, near the summit. It was a beautiful day and I had a blast.

Left trail in White Pine Canyon and headed up northwest ridge of Red Top Mountain then easy traverse to the Twins. The views from AF Twin Peaks and Red Top are some of the finest in the Wasatch. A very enjoyable and worthwhile hike.
