American White Pelican at Emma Matilda

[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
American White Pelican at Emma Matilda
This American White Pelican was cruising around the outlet creek of Emma Matilda Lake, looking for fish. We were sitting next to a bunch of spawning trout about 20 yards away, but this bird seemed not to be interested. Or maybe just not very hungry.

These are very large birds that migrate a considerable distance to the Rockies from the Pacific coast of California, Mexico, and Central America.

Photo taken June 2008.

winter at central AZ's Roosevelt Lake.
Roosevelt Lake is situated inside a desert
basin, and it never freezes. Nice Pelican pic!!

"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."   --Peter Gibbons (Office Space)
