Ancient Piton - Mount Stephen
Ancient Piton with welded biner near base of groove on main wall of Mount Stephen. Aug/05.
Stephen was the first mountain in the Canadian Rockies over 10,000 ft that was climbed in the 1880's.

It certainly was solid. We found several of these on the mountain and all were driven that deep. They are over 2 ft long and 2 inch x 1/4 inch width so the big question is who carried the sledge hammer to beat these in that deep!?
