ancient sea floor

Some several hundred million years ago, this rock helped comprise the bottom of the Belt Sea. During the Lewis Overthrust, it was pushed upwards on top of much younger rock, and now it can be found on rocky mountain slopes east of the Continental Divide. I've encountered slabs of rippled sea floor on numerous occasions while hiking and climbing in the park, and it's always an absolute treat.
