Yes, People are still living there. The Askole village is famous for gateway to the highest mountains, like, K2, Gasherbrum, Broad Peak, Muztagh Towers, Trango Towers and longest glacier on earth outside the polar region. The gateway to the Baltoro, Biafo and many other glaciers.
