Angelica up close

This is Rough Angelica (Angelica scabrida). There are over 50 various species of angelicas worldwide, but rough angelica is endemic to the Spring Mountains of Nevada and this is the only place in the world where you can see it. It likes to grow in the bottoms of canyons and in avalanche chutes. This plant is under protection of the Forest Service. Photo taken in Echo Canyon in July 2007.
