$Anna\'s Hummingbird Feeding by Little Kern River$

This female Anna's hummingbird (Calypte anna) fed on wild honeysuckle intermittently for 15 minutes as I ate lunch at the stock bridge across the Little Kern River.
Note the flower visible through the beating wings.

Man, their wings move so fast, like a bee! Gives them that quick dart-hovercraft quality.

	Hasn't voted	Thank you. Yes, I've always enjoyed watching them, used to have a feeder outside my office. But this is the first time I've managed to get a photo of one out in the wild.

	Voted 10/10	Hummingbirds are attracted to a wide variety of flowers. Those blooms resemble wild honeysuckles. From this angle, that's an "Anna's Hummingbird."
