I took a photo from almost exactly this same spot in October 1968 after a similar snow storm.
Of course, at that time there was no building in the Amphitheater or anywhere along the walk up the khola above Ghandrung. We were a group of American Peace Corps volunteers and we were hoping to climb Hiun Chuli. We were unsuccessful that year, but only a couple of years later some of our group did succeed in the first climb of that himal.
"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."
