Annotated Cresta Solda Panorama, from Tellakopf

To read the labels, click on the image for a much larger version. Photo taken on Tellakopf in the Sesvenna Group. It's a minor summit, but its location on the southern edge of the group offers some great views. This is towards the southeast, to the northern parts of the Ortler Alps. Don't be fooled though: I've zoomed in a whole lot, and consequently this panorama spans only about 25 degrees! The main language in this area is German, but it's part of Italy, and everything has (at least) two names. In black (or white) I've given the German one, in yellow the Italian. The main summits on the skyline are some 20 km away. There wasn't enough room to label the two peaks between Schafbergspitze and Tschenglser Hochwand properly; they are Kleine Angelus (L'Angelo Piccolo, 3318m) and Hochofenwand (Croda del Forno, 3433m). Hidden by the clouds on the left is the Orgelspitze (Punta di Lasa, 3305 m). The ridge in the foreground, almost 6 km away, with several minor summits, is the NE ridge of Piz Chavalatsch (2763 m), an Italian - Swiss border peak that lies outside this picture on the right. The border follows its NW and S ridges; the NE ridge is wholly Italian. 22 Aug 2014.
