This was, for me, an easier way up the crux of Red Cap. It avoids the 'cairn tree step' wall described in the 2 Red Cap route pages (West Face, White Gully). It starts about 150 feet south, as you bend around the the base of the white barrier cliff. It was a class 4 shimmy at the top which I found a lot easier than getting up the class 4 wall via the 'tree rock' option. See rest of the route
