Don't DeleteIt's good to know what kind of vicious animals you may encounter on the mountain, so that you may be properly armed. Very nice photo... National Geographic material.

Re: so cuteYes, this marten was definitely checking us out at the same time we were checking it out. It kept popping up to look at us, then it would duck under a rock and pop up somewhere else, with this sequence repeating several times.

Wonderful!Pine Martens move so fast! How did you ever get a photo of one, even with it being curious about you? I've only seen them running around after prey--usually a Pika--or briefly checking me out and then running away.

Re: Wonderful!Thanks. We were in a boulder field when we ran into this marten, and for several mintutes we watched as the marten would appear and dissappear around the rocks. Fortuanatley, we were able to get a few pictures before the marten disappeared for good.
