Most of the route between Corner Peak and the pass at the head of Swift Creek is along a gentle tundra ridge. All of a sudden, this strange spot appears, making a striking contrast with the surroundings. This is also where we left the ridge to make a direct descent to Swift Creek instead of going via the pass.
