Nice day. Ran into a momma Grizz and two cubs on the climers trail above the falls. Thankfully being solo they wanted nothing to do with me.

Many Glacier Trifecta
Apikuni- Henkel- Crowfeet.
Started the day at apikuni falls. Climbed up a dry stream bed from the basin above the falls to the east ridge of apikuni. Continued on the ridge toward Henkel. Fun climbing to be had between the two. Then from Henkel onto Crowfeet which has an incredible summit block.
Climbed this big boy my first summer working in the park - my rookie season as an off trail hiker. I just sort of wandered up the scree from Apikuni Falls then ridge walked to the top. I may have been wearing basketball shorts and running shoes. On the descent I explored the upper Windy Creek Basin for the first time. It's one of my favorite secluded spots in the park. It was a great day.

What started as a very nice day alone in the park changed on the way down when I came upon a mid-sized griz who proceeded to stalk me until I climbed down onto the cliffs near Apikuni falls. That was the last time I hiked alone in Glacier!

Crowfeet/Henkel/Apikuni
Climbed Crowfeet from Ptarmigan Lake on a cloudless day, and enjoyed the ridge walks to Henkel and Apikuni. Descent down Apikuni's loose south face to valley above Apikuni Falls. Took about 10 hours total. Amazing route, can't wait to do it again!
Also climbed via the Apikuni Falls/south slope route on June 6, 2010. Great early season climb! Snow was persistant over the last 1,000 feet along the summit ridge, but the terrain was not very steep and all snow crossings were safe. Exceptional views of snowy peaks all throughout the park!
And yet again on May 21, 2013 with Colin Gavin and Josh Olson. Initially started the day by ascending the west flank of Allen Mountain with hopes of skiing off the top, but icy conditions forced us to turn around. Didn't want to waste the great weather so we slogged up Apikuni instead. Great time as always!
