Appointment At The Courthouse
Talk about a show-off! The massive (sandstone) bulk of Courthouse Butte rises to the south of The Village of Oak Creek, south of Sedona and SE of another stone tower known as Bell Rock.

The Butte's highpoint can be reached on the east via 3rd/4th Class rock, and
rises to 5,441 ft (1661 meters) above sea level.

Photo taken from the Bell Rock (Loop) Trail in central Arizona by lcarreau.

I love the colors; the contrast between the green bushes and red sandstone is fabulous. Cheers.

Yes, I feel like I'm walking a "fine line"
when I "enhance" my photos through the
editor. Sometimes, I end up with more reds
than greens, but this one isn't too shabby!

Thanks, Guido!

"too shabby" is quite an understatement. It's very nice actually.

This look like a great area for mountain-biking, but maybe the pitiless sun and the ruttle-snakes don't agree with me!

Marco, you are (in fact) very right! This is
a 'world-renowned' place for mountain-biking
here in central Arizona. -Larry

Killer shot dude. Did you get to the summit via a 3rd/4th class route? I'd always heard the easiest way was 5.6 or so, which was the way I went last time. be interested in hearing 'bout it....

THANKS, and I sincerely apoligize for the
'confusion' regarding my photograph. I've
never made it (one mile) past the Red Rock
Pass parking lot! I need to go up there and
confirm what you're saying, which is probably the case. Thanks for the comment!!
So many mountains ... so little beta knowledge because I can't seem to find the time at this particular juncture. Take care!

No worries hombre - since I thought I'd taken the easiest route, it's of interest to me if there's a better one. Wouldn't mind going back up there, if you're ever in the area. Cheers -

Stunning photo, Larry! I see you have been keeping yourself busy 'in' the "outdoors"! Great collection of photos from this summer's hikes!
Cheers, Trina

Yeah, but for some reason I keep being
mistaken for being a climber - which is good,
because the 'climbing world' needs a few
more "climbers" like me! Freakin' awesome!!!

Have a very nice week, Trina!!! !!!

Hey - I DID stay at a Holiday Inn Express ...
does that count ???

Now I've seen it all I feel as though I can now die in peace... Great composition w/ this one Larry. You have once again created a real Beauty, as they say. Hey I'm gonna be in Sedona in one weeks time... Any Advice on what to see?

Thanks - check out Courthouse Butte for one.
Some dude on a "green motorcycle" told me that he's moving back to Sedona - said they have 350 miles of hiking trails there, all easily accessed and within the city limits.

Sounds like a rather peaceful experience,
being able to die in peace. Check your PM box, and I'll be sure to reply with more information!

Flying Colors. So if it were possible, I'm absolutely positive I'd rock this well balanced, red and green pic with an 11 out of 10:)

Yes, I'm not sure if I completely agree with
SP's "photo voting" system.

What if the photo had GRAY clouds in it?
Would you then vote 12 out of 10? : ))))))))

The "foreground flowers" are the remains of a
desert agave or Century plant.

They only bloom approximately ONCE every 25
years, then the whole plant dies back to let
its brothers and sisters repopulate the
desert. What a considerate & caring plant !!!
