Approaching Cracker Lake on 6/12/08. The prominence atop the far left side of the rock wall is Cracker Peak (9,833 ft), with Mount Siyeh (10,014 ft) just to the right. The snowfield visible just underneath and to the right of Mount Siyeh used to be known as Siyeh Glacier; it has been declassified in recent years.
This was a marvelous day for hiking. The steep southern slope of Allen Mountain, which is just off-camera to the right, produced about 30 small avalanches during the few hours we were in the valley. We never felt at danger, however, as the Cracker Lake Trail is well on the other side of a large creek drainage from Allen.
