Approaching Judele peak | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
The near tower is Turnu Porţii (gate tower), on its right Vf. Judele (which is a bit higher - 2398 m). The snowfield on the left covers a frozen lake: Lacul Agătat.

Voted 10/10 | Looks that similar to High Tatras! Also amount of snow is comparable to some High Tatras' valleys. I like those rock towers. Cheers Tomas :) | | Posted Jun 27, 2008 6:21 pm |

Hasn't voted | Yes, this part or Retezat is the most Tatra-like. In fact, the Tatra spirit was continuously with us on this trip. We were chatting about the tourism potential of Hateg town (at the feet of Retezat) being similar to that of Poprad on the way, then, when we arrived to the entry point of the NP, the first vehicle we saw was a bus with Poprad licence plate. Later we have met its people - they turned out to be TANAP officials who were on a guided visit. Wow... :) | | Posted Jun 30, 2008 4:04 am |

Voted 10/10 | Thanks for very interesting info! TANAP officials often go visit national parks of character similar to Tatras. They went also to Appenines, Gran Sasso and the like. More parks, richer park management diversity, more people - let's hope that helps change TANAP management to its best. Hope to visit Retezat one day - maybe even in september - I will let you know if I go. Cheers, Tomas :) | | Posted Jun 30, 2008 7:54 am |

To increase your appetite, here are some
