aragonite

[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
aragonite
aragonite and calcite popcorns in "Suttaterra De Su Predargiu's Cave", Mount Oseli, Sardinia.
The picture is a macro, however acicular aragonite covered up the whole walls of the room wich is several meters wide. Quite impressive.

I'm afraid I can't remember exactly. Anyways, assuming every needle is big less than an inch, every single bunch of that aragonite formations is 7-8 inches big.
Cave walls were covered with that for about 130 ft in lenght and 15-10 ft in height, more or less.
I can't calculate but it was beautiful!

super-thanks! :-)
aragonite is pretty much the same as calcite, but cristallyze in a different way.
I'm not a former chemist and neither want to bother you with formulas, though :-) :-)

If not "former", are you at present a chemist?

I can't see the relationship between maths, 'popcorn'and pizza.
I guess that's because I'm pretty dumb at maths me too. :) LOL
